This weekend my husband and I had the priviledge of testing our fantastic Spot Bot (made by Bissell) out on sucking up soap and water on our kitchen floor. Now, I know the Spot Bot isn’t a scrapbooking tool per say, but there will be many times when you are crafting … or most likely after you are crafting … that you have spots on the carpet that need to be cleaned (say glue, paint, or ink spilled on the floor or a rogue freshly inked stamp that gets dropped on the floor). The Spot Bot will clean all that up and more!

My husband and I received our Spot Bot for Christmas this past year from his parents and let me tell you this machine has come in handy. I have used it many times so far on stains on the carpet and I have even scrubbed the carpet around our entry way. It was so dirty from us parking our shoes there when we get home that the carpet was starting to look … well … black. So I used the hose attachment on the Spot Bot and applied some elbow grease and in about 30 minutes we had a freshly cleaned, bright carpet!

This weekend, though, we learned to always rinse the dishes of dish washing liquid detergent before putting them in the dishwasher. 15 minutes later our kitchen was flooded with soapy water, with our kitty playing happily in the bubbles. We started mopping everything up using towels, then came up with the brilliant idea of using the Spot Bot to suck up the liquid. When you use the hose attachment to clean the carpet, it squirts the soap out and sucks the dirt and liquid back up when you rub it across the floor … so logically the same theory ought to work for sucking up soapy water from the floor right? Right! It worked perfectly and we had the kitchen cleaned up and dried in no time. We had to pull the refrigerator out from the wall because water had gotten all the way under there as well. When we pulled it out, the floor under the fridge was absolutely disgusting. Probably years of dust had accumulated under there and with the combination of the soapy water from the dish washer had turned into sort of a dusty muddy mess. Although we also found where all the plastic rings around milk carton caps went and all the little strips of scrap paper went our cat takes out of the garbage and plays with. Anyhow, the Spot Bot cleaned all that up as well and our floor is sparkling clean again!

The Spot Bot is relatively small and really easy to store out of the way (we keep ours in our closet on the floor). It uses a small amount of cleaning fluid so you don’t have to go out and buy new soap every time you have to use it – and one full container of soapy water will last for 3 washes – and you can store the Spot Bot with remaining soap in there so you don’t have to waste it.

I highly, highly recommend this product – it is one of my favorite appliances and I absolutely love it! It costs around $135 retail – but if you use one of the 10-20% coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond that come in the mail frequently it’s a great deal!

(Thanks for the product review recommendation Heather!)
