This past week I purchased two new albums by two bands that I absolutely love, Coldplay and Amos Lee. I’m listening to Amos Lee right now and groovin’ away and it got me thinking about the different kinds of music and things I like to listen to when I need some creative inspiration. My two most absolute favorite bands/artists ever – and the ones that inspire me in writing and creating are Dave Matthews Band and Amos Lee. Hands down. Amos Lee’s new album, Last Days at the Lodge is fabulous and I’ve been listening to it frequently since I got it last week. Since DMB shifted musical styles a bit I haven’t kept up with them as religiously as I used to; not to say that I don’t love their music now, I just haven’t kept track of them quite as much.

Damien Rice, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Ryan Adams, John Mayer, Flogging Molly, Greenday, Angels and Airwaves, Jimmy Eat World, David Gray, Goo Goo Dolls, Counting Crows, Keane, Great Big Sea, and Norah Jones are some of the other bands I like to listen to to get in the mood to be creative!

Lately, too, Ryan and I have been listening to a lot of comedy. We especially like Bill Cosby, Bill Engvall, the Blue Collar Comedy Tour and the Prairie Home Companion Annual Joke Shows. I’ve also been listening to Garrison Keillor’s Lake Wobegone stories, Monty Python bits and Stan Boreson.  It’s nice to come home from work in the evenings and let the stress of the day fall off our shoulders by laughing histerically at their stories and jokes!

Thanks for reading with me!
