Sailboat Decorated Frame
This adorable decorated frame is the second of a two frame custom order done this fall. The only request I had for this frame was that she wanted sailboats. The face of the frame is covered with two different patterned papers. A blue pattern with typographic words (for the sky) and a wave pattern. Around the entire frame is a piece of knotted hemp twine. I had originally planned to use this twine for the rigging in the sailboat, but the boat turned out too small and my fingers too fat.
The sailboat is made from a die-cut on my SilhouetteSD machine. I took all the pieces apart and put everything back together using different patterned papers. The boat itself has an extra piece of chipboard behind it to make it stand up more from the frame. Behind and in front of the boat are waves cut out by hand then glued on using pieces of foam adhesive. I’m not sure if you can tell in these pictures, but I hand cut different lengths of waves and adhered them with foam adhesive to help make the waves stand out and “roll” a bit more.
