Yellow and Blue Christmas Card thumbnail

Yellow and Blue Christmas Card

This non-traditional Christmas card is one I finished a couple days ago for a friend who wanted to give a Christmas/Thank You card to her yoga instructor. My friend gave me the URL address for the yoga studio (which also has a little bio of the instructor) and said she wanted the colors to reflect the colors of the company logo – blue and yellow, but also wanted it to be sort of winter-ish since it’s a Christmas card.

In preparation for this card, I did a little bit of research on the instructor and the background of Bikram yoga (the branch of yoga she teaches) and wanted the paper and feel of the card to sort of reflect Indian (Indian as in India) culture. I have this beautiful paper that, I think, supposed to be more Moroccan, but fits really well with some of the ornate patterns seen in a lot of Indian culture. So I used that for my background and also wanted to to add a natural aspect to it, so I used some handmade paper over the top stamped with an ornate snowflake and “merry christmas” at the bottom. The center of the snowflake and the dot above the ‘i’ in “christmas” have little clear rhinestones.

Because this card has two functions as a Christmas and Thank You card, I left the inside blank so she could write her own message!

Nativity Christmas Cards thumbnail

Nativity Christmas Cards

These cards were part of a 6-card custom Christmas card order. Each of the 6 cards has the same basic layout using the same patterned paper (with the exception of the strip across the front which is different for the three pairs). I chose this line of paper from SEI (called Holly Lane, I think it’s at least a couple years old) because of its simplicity and elegance. The friend who ordered these cards from me has a simple, but elegant and beautiful style and I wanted to reflect that in her cards. All of the stamping (the Holy family image, verse and message on the inside) has been embossed with gold. It’s a little difficult to tell in these pictures real well, but the embossing on the front of the card is done on a very light green patterned paper. It’s really subtle, but it coordinates with some of the green in the snowflakes on the background of the card.

Acetate Birthday Card thumbnail

Acetate Birthday Card

One of my acetate creations made for my sister on her birthday. The acetate allows me to layer the card more and think creatively outside the box. I try hard not to let any adhesive show and use a variety of embellishment elements and creative ways to write a message inside the card without it showing through the front of the card.

Hand printed on the “tag” is “Thanks!” in black. Various circles and flowers are propped up at different heights using mini and large foam “pop dots”.
The inside of the card is blank. While the base of the card is black, the inside of the card has a piece of yellow cardstock adhered inside for you to write on!
