A few months ago I designed a birthday card very similar to this card and it sold within a couple of hours of my listing it. Since it was so well received then, I decided to make another one! I love this paper from Die Cuts With A View and the feature cake looks delicious! It’s embossed with a birthday greeting in brown embossing powder from American Crafts and embellished with some ribbon and gemstone “bling”!

A while ago, I took an acetate card class at our local Archiver’s store. When we took the class I wasn’t too enthused about using acetate – it can be a huge pain to work with and it really doesn’t cooperate very well. Perhaps it was the designs they presented in the class, but I swore I wouldn’t use acetate again with my cards. Then inspiration hit me in the middle of the night a couple weeks ago, and I really liked what I came up with. With acetate, a whole new world of creativity is opened up. Experiment with layering embellishments and other elements on the acetate so when you open the card up it’s like a completely different card! Anyway, I made a card similar to this a couple weeks ago and it sold the day after I listed it, so I decided to do it again! Click on the picture above to view the posting!

My card for today went through a few rounds of mistakes and trials before I was satisfied enough with it! At least now I have added to my collection of extra cards I keep to send to family and friends! I love working with this glitter cardstock – I think it’s so fun! All those different shapes and colors with a sprinkling of glitter here and there! I love working with different textures and playing with raising my pieces at different heights on my cards. Today I am featuring the etsy shop of Jemily, home of Hand Stamped Creations by Laurie Mitchell! Her shop is full of single cards, card packs, and these fantastic card and gift bag combos. As with almost every artist I come across on etsy, it was difficult to pick out a feature product, but her gift bag and card combos really caught my eye. She has a handful of these sets in her shop and they are so fun. I’m one of those OCD people who likes to have my wrapping/packaging match the card when I give someone a gift. It makes the gift seem more complete, rather than grabbing a random card and paper in the store from whatever is handy. In any case, I love her card/bag sets – she has some for birthdays, babys, any occasion and even has a customizable name set! The picture above, though, was my favorite – I love her colors, the stamped images and the ribbon brings everything together!
