Birthday Wishes Card
Hello to all my creative readers! I hope you had a great weekend filled with lots of family and friends! And, in the case of my American readers, a great time celebrating America’s Independence Day! This would have been a good weekend to watch National Treasure or Independence Day, eh?
I have been hard at work the past few weeks on a cute Baby Book for my dear friend Tanya, who is going to be having her first baby in a couple months! It has been a really fun project – a full 12 x 12 album full of pages for lots of pictures as well as pages she can write down those fun baby details! I will post pictures soon when I get the album finished!
For now, I hope you will enjoy this week’s card idea!
Birthday Wishes Card
The inspiration for this card came from a really cute idea I saw in my Scrapbook to Cards idea book by Papercrafts. I don’t know if the paper I used is still available in stores, but any coordinating papers will be great for this card!
Materials
- Patterned paper – so the paper I used is from Daisy D’s and is at least a couple years old. Through my research today I found out that Daisy D’s has, for better or worse, gone under and I was not able to find the paper I used anywhere … so, any coordinating patterned papers will work – 4 different patterns in a product line would be best, but not necessary.
- Three buttons – colors coordinating with your patterned paper of choice – I used a large button with two smaller ones.
- Coordinating ribbon
- Birthday Wishes acrylic stamp from Inkadinkadoo (of the Garden Flower stamp set)
- White cardstock
- Black ink
- Ink for distressing – I used an Olive pastel ink
- Adhesive, mini pop dots, ribbon adhesive
Instructions
- Score and fold a piece of white 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ cardstock in half to make a 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ card. The card will have a landscape portfolio
- Distress the edges of the cardstock base with ink.
- Cut a piece of 5 1/4″ x 4″ of patterned paper. Distress the edges with ink; center and adhere to the front of the card.
- Cut a piece of 2″ x 2 1/4″ of a different patterned paper. Distress the edges with ink, then adhere to the bottom left corner of the card 1/8″ from the left and bottom edges.
- Cut a piece of 3 1/4″ x 3″ of yet another patterned paper. Distress the edges with ink then adhere to the top right corner of the card 1/8″ from the top and right edges (this piece will overlap the first piece).
- Stamp “Birthday Wishes” sentiment in black onto the last patterned paper. Trim to 2″ x 1″; distress the edges with ink and adhere along the bottom edge of the larger square using mini pop dots. Adhere so half the stamped paper is on the patterned square and half is on the card base.
- Adhere a piece of 4 1/4″ ribbon across the left side of the card about 3/4″ from the left edge.
- Adhere three buttons in the space above the smaller square. See my pictures provided for reference!
**NOTE: On my card, I adhered all my patterned papers on white cardstock with a 1/8″ border then adhered onto the card to give it a little more dimension. This is completely optional, though!
Thanks for creating with me!
