This fun card is a fun and funky card that features a die-cut birthday cake with lots of colorful birthday-inspired patterned paper. Let’s get started!
Have Your Cake Birthday Card
Materials
- Ruby Jewel Metallic Cardstock from The Paper Company
- Blue Eyes Bling cardstock from Bazzill Basics
- Surprise Multi Stripe patterned paper from KI Memories
- Pollen Count patterned paper from Scrapworks (I apologize, it seems this paper has been discontinued, I was not able to find a picture anywhere – to substitute try any multi-colored patterned paper you choose that coordinates with the other colors of your card! This cardstock is 2-sided, the opposite side has a pastel-rose pink flat color)
- Celebrate Wide Rule patterned paper from KI Memories
- Adhesives – paper and mini pop dots
- Die-Cut cake shape, stencil or template
- Happy Birthday sentiment stamp
Instructions
- Cut a piece of 8 1/2″ x 11″ Ruby Jewel Metallic cardstock in half (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″). Score and fold in half to make a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card. The card will have a portrait orientation.
- Cut a piece of 4″ x 5 1/4″ Pollen Count (or other fun patterned paper). Center on the metallic cardstock and adhere.
- Cut a piece of 5″ x 3 1/4″ of the pink side of the Pollen Count patterned paper. Cut a piece of 4 3/4″ x 3″ of blue cardstock; center and adhere to the pink paper.
- Cut out three different copies of a die-cut cake using 3 different paper patterns (I used the pink side of the Pollen Count paper, the Celebration paper and Surprise multi stripe papers). Use one of the cake cutouts as the base and adhere to the blue cardstock. Cut the bottom later of another cake and the top layer of the third cake and adhere at a slight angle on the base cake cutouts. (see pics for a better idea).
- In a word processing document type “Have Your Cake And Eat It Too!” in black. Play with different fonts and sizes then print out on normal white paper. Trim and adhere to the multi-colored pattern paper (Pollen Count). Adhere to the center section of the cake at an angle using mini pop dots.
- Stamp the “Happy Birthday” sentiment in black on pink paper. Trim with a 1/16″ border around all edges. Adhere to Celebrate wide rule patterned paper and trim with a 1/16″ border around all edges. Adhere to the center of the inside of the card.
